“Cassie Nordgren’s innovative choreography is spectacular, an exercise in raw, searing energy that is both uninhibited and unexpectedly graceful. How she got that many dancers to create that much complicated motion in such close proximity is a miracle of logistics. The dance numbers are indescribably beautiful.”
Jesus Christ Superstar, Cabrillo Stage | Choreography by Cassie Nordgren
“[Actress Ella Currie] praised Cassie Nordgren for her openness and respectfulness in creating a new version of the character [Sonny]. ‘Cassie has been absolutely wonderful,’ she says. ‘She is so open to my ideas; we’re always on the same page. I love how we are taking the opportunity to display the queer experience, especially in an era that was not as accepting.’”
Grease, Cabrillo Stage | Directed & Choreographed by Cassie Nordgren
Cassie was featured in the June 1st edition of Aptos Times for her work on Grease at Cabrillo Stage.
“...I saw Cabrillo Stage’s version of the musical on which the movie is based, and I’m here to tell you [that] you have to see it! It’s funny, and the music is great! I like how director and choreographer Cassie Nordgren has conceptualized her production; there’s a dreamy quality to the whole thing that’s in sharp contrast to the stark, saturated colors of the film. The way she has incorporated the live band and DJ Vince Fontaine above the stage is brilliant...”

“'Dance, like music, is universal. It doesn't require the understanding of English or Spanish to be enjoyed,” Nordgren said. “Because our community uptown is so diverse, art-forms without a language barrier are especially unifying.'”
Cassie was a featured contributor in the October 2017 issue of Dance Teacher Magazine!
"When Cassie Nordgren visits studios as a guest choreographer, she prides herself on bringing her high-energy, high-emotion brand of theater dance to the table. For her, the magic often lies in the intention behind the piece rather than its perceived difficulty. "Sometimes the piece is about telling a story, so you won't get those aerials or fouettés or whatever the new trick of the day is. That's not where I live as a choreographer," she says. "What you are going to get is that the students will have to rely on their storytelling skills to make the piece complete...."

“…with her striking Peter Pan-pixie look and clear mastery of Blackstone’s natural, joyous style, I knew she (Cassie) had the “it” factor....I met Cassie Nordgren about a year ago in Al Blackstone’s Advanced Theatre class at Broadway Dance Center. Cassie stuck to the back of the studio, but with her striking Peter Pan-pixie look and clear mastery of Blackstone’s natural, joyous style, I knew she had the “it” factor. Last fall I ran into Cassie during intermission for a preview performance of Broadway’s On the Town. She was sitting next to choreographer, Josh Bergasse, in the back row of the orchestra with a notepad in her hand. “I’m part of the Observer program through the Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF),” she explained. “What’s that?” I asked. I then discovered that the SDC Observership is probably the greatest opportunity for aspiring directors and choreographers. But surprisingly, very few dancers and actors are familiar with the program. Cassie—eager to share her own experience—agreed to sit down to an interview with Dance Informa about being a SDC observer for Josh Bergasse on On the Town..."
